The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is bringing audiences a huge serving of festive joy and Christmas cheer in the comfort of their own homes this December, with the exclusive broadcast of this specially recorded performance, featuring John Rutter and a host of special guests. With so many concerts cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Orchestra was thrilled to be able to record this unique production at the end of October in the stunning surroundings of St Albans Cathedral (complying fully with regional restrictions and social distancing regulations) and is proud to be able to share it with online audiences worldwide.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is proud to mark Black History Month this October, sharing some of the Orchestra’s recent and memorable projects via a series of posts on our social media channels. Black History Month encourages us to reflect on the enormous contribution that Black artists and composers have made to the world of music, whilst acknowledging that these contributions have not received the exposure and recognition that they deserve. The RPO is working towards showcasing and supporting more black musicians in future, as part of its wider inclusion and diversity strategy.

Ahead of World Mental Health Day on 10 October, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra releases key findings from recent research on music and mental health. Asking a nationally representative sample of 2,110 adults on the perceived benefits of listening to orchestral music during lockdown in 2020, the findings were as follows:
