Mozart Symphony No.31, ‘Paris’
Grieg Piano Concerto
Mendelssohn Symphony No.4, ‘Italian’
Natasha Paremski Piano
Grzegorz Nowak Conductor
The second of two outstanding concerts at Cadogan Hall featuring some of the most celebrated works in the Classical and Romantic repertoire.
Grieg’s evergreen Piano Concerto sits at the heart of a symphonic tour of continental Europe, played here by Natasha Paremski who continues to generate excitement from all corners as she wins over audiences with her musical sensibility and a powerful, flawless technique.
“Paremski brought a decisive freshness to her interpretation [of the Grieg Piano Concerto] that was bold and demonstrative without being overwhelming, and beautifully Romantic. Paremski’s first movement’s cadenza was a superb joy. The finale… sparked and sparkled…” (ArtsKnoxville)
With the youthful exuberance, tenderness and joy of three composers writing during their twenties, the music takes inspiration from the land both at home (Grieg drawing on beloved Norwegian folk melody) and abroad (Mozart seeking patronage in cosmopolitan Paris; Mendelssohn high on Italian sunshine, landscape and art).
Due to personal circumstances beyond his control, Mark Bebbinton is unable to perform in this concert. We are delighted that Natasha Paremski has agreed to perform in his place.
