Last week the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra touched down in California to begin our tour in the USA with our Music Director, Vasily Petrenko.

The first week of our January tour featured pianist Olga Kern and music by Britten, Elgar and Grieg, before we flew over to Florida for our residency in Orlando’s Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts from 19 – 26 January. Concerts on the East Coast are to follow in the last week of the month, topped off with a concert in New York's Carnegie Hall on 31 January, with this performance being given in honour of Lilia Bloom.

On Tuesday 11 January, BBC Radio 4 aired a documentary on The Lullaby Project, an initiative by the Irene Taylor Trust (ITT), which was first developed in the UK in 2017 with RPO’s community and education team: RPO Resound. The Lullaby Project was originally devised by Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute in the US.

The London-born and GRAMMY-nominated Anna Clyne has made a name for herself as one of today’s foremost contemporary composers. Often experimenting and collaborating with visual artists, choreographers and film-makers, she has been commissioned by the likes of Southbank Centre, Los Angeles Philharmonic, BBC Radio 3 and Carnegie Hall.
