As the Associate Orchestra of the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) has enjoyed a long and celebrated history performing at this iconic venue. Since it was established in 1946 by Sir Thomas Beecham, the RPO has become one of the most respected ensembles in the UK, frequently returning to the Royal Albert Hall to present its most ambitious and diverse programmes.
In 2025, the Orchestra continues this legacy with a thrilling series of performances at the venue. Highlights include pianist Yunchan Lim performing Chopin’s Piano Concerto on 20 May, and violinist Maxim Vengerov taking centre stage for Sibelius’ Violin Concerto on 25 May, both conducted by Vasily Petrenko, our Music Director. In our 2025–26 Season, Petrenko will conduct three of Mahler’s most epic symphonies, alongside music by Bernstein, Puccini and Korngold.
The RPO will also perform music from the legendary rock band, Queen, seminal songs and soundtracks from the James Bond films, iconic music from action and adventure films, and your favourite Christmas carols with Sir John Rutter.
