Second Violin

Manuel Porta was born in Sabadell, near Barcelona, in Spain. He started learning the violin in his native city and finished his studies at the Royal College of Music, London, with Rodney Friend.

His musical life has been full of varied and enriching experiences, mainly performing classical music both as an orchestral and chamber musician, but he has also flirted with other styles like tango and jazz.

Alongside performing, Manuel was a violin and chamber music teacher at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona, before joining the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015.
