The Sheffield anthem, Steel the Show, was created through a wide range of workshops. The RPO and workshop leader/composer Charlotte Harding spent a day at Meadowhall shopping centre with members of the public and pupils from Hinde House School and Hatfield Primary Academy.
Ideas for the anthem also came from a workshop with the Forget-Me-Not choir, adults with learning disabilities at ArtWorks, children at Highfield Adventure Playground, pupils at Sheffield Springs Academy and members of Sheffield Music School’s Tracks programme. You can find out more about where all the lyric ideas came from in this introductory video by Charlotte below.
Singers and rappers from Tracks and members of Forget-Me-Not choir joined the RPO for several pop-up performances in Sheffield city centre before taking to the stage at a match-day Fan Party to perform Steel the Show to hundreds of England fans.
